Welcome to Wild Bird Market!
Thanks for your interest in this little project of mine. I'm Ryan and I am an amateur lavender farmer. From our little acre of land in Columbia, TN, I grow a few rows of French Lavender, among other vegetables and herbs. It's a tiny operation in comparison to what you would find on many real farms, but it suits me well.
While I have plenty of failures, what I do grow constantly surprises me with its beauty; particularly the lavender. I became fond of lavender during my trips as a child to New Mexico and where I now often travel as part of my "real" job in education research & advocacy.
While not as easy to grow in our part of the country, the right cultivars can survive and even thrive in our humid and wet spring and summer seasons. (Lavender prefers dry, depleted soil). For this reason, I have mostly committed to growing a cultivar called "Phenomenal," which is bred to be more adaptable to our growing zone.
Apart from lavender, I hope that Wild Bird Market can eventually serve as a resource for other local farms, growers, and producers to sell their goods. But one step at a time. For now, this is a place to purchase some of the lavender that is growing here on Wild Bird Acre.
The shop is just starting up, so take a look around. I'd be honored to share some of these flowers with you.
